Aisle12

By students for students peer to peer college platform

Aisle12 was the first business I “officially” started. Secured the domain, filed the LLC, learned so much about the process of creating a business. As a high school student, my small 100 person graduating class always provided the help & support I needed throughout my education journey. That’s why it was a shock to me to find out one day (from my older sister, attending University of Michigan) that college was nothing like that. With tens of thousands of students at each university, there was often little support from administration, as well as from students, all trying to finish top of the class. I saw this cutthroat environment as a chance to prove myself as an individual. However, why did I have to? Why was there no way to connect student to student; at the end of the day we all just want access to information & enough knowledge to secure our dream jobs. I set about creating a better way for students to help each other. Why should we all spend $150 on the same textbook year after year without an easy way to pass books down to the next semester's students? So many questions were floating around in my head that no one else was
asking. With that I took to various universities where I in-person surveyed over 10,000 college students to develop a database of information relevant to what students felt was missing/lacking from their college experience.

With that, I developed the first peer to peer platform by students for students in college. With services ranging from, subleasing, to tutors, to textbook sales, to class notes, and more; I devised a way students could leverage other students in their academic success journeys. Save money, live a cleaner lifestyle, and most importantly free up time to enjoy the things that matter most while in college. Aisle12: College... Simplified. I met with multiple Private Equity & Venture Capital firms as part of an Angel List showcase event for seed funding. Although I had built out part of the platform, each firm wanted to see the idea developed further before investing. This is one I hope to come back to one day because of its immense potential!
